Budding poets

Two of our Year 11 students have this week seen their poems in print in an edition entitled “Mini Marvels”, edited by Allison Jones. “Playground” by Kirty and “That Fateful Day” by Rachael, have been published in the Worcestershire and West Midlands section of the book and we are very proud of the girls’ literary potential. Poetry and creative writing form an important part of our curriculum here at Holy Trinity International School and so the girls were able to use classroom skills to create gripping plots with excitement and adventure, all squeezed into just 50 words.

Playground

It was a jungle. I stared, my jaw slack. The queen

lazily surveyed her pride, her golden hair shining

in sunlight. Her cat eyes fixed upon me. She

mentally judged me. A smirk curled her lip, but I

stood defiant. She grinned.

My mother whispered, ‘Have a good first day!’

That Fateful Day

I stood in awe, looking at the tremendous glory

of the supreme structure that was built to

perfection, with every detail accounted for. My

eyes were transfixed by its beauty, transported to

a better place. And then my mother dragged me

from the window where that chocolate cake lay.

Congratulations, Kirtey and Rachael!
